They are then topped with a type of cheddar cheese curd. It is a late-night snack that first emerged in Quebec back around the 1950s.
Where Can You Find Poutine?
There are several places around the world that may serve it. Some may also serve it during the daylight hours. If you are unable to find it in your area, it is somewhat easy to make in your own kitchen. However, you shouldn’t expect it to be just gravy and fries.
Making Your Own Poutine
Many people suggest that you cut up your fries using real potatoes. From there, you will want to mix oil and some flour to create the gravy. Once that is done, you will want to add minced shallot, garlic that is minced or grated, beef stock, a stout beer, ketchup, balsamic vinegar, some Worcestershire sauce, cheese curds, and a dash of salt and pepper to taste. If you do not want to use beer, you can use water but it does lose a little of the flavor kick.
