The Food Monkey at STIX
A short while ago I visited STIX Restaurant and Lounge in Back Bay to try out (what else?) their STIX.
STIX are thin pieces of wood soaked in marinade such that when you skewer meat with them, they exude their flavorful bounty into whatever you are skewering from the inside out. STIX Restaurant and Lounge offers many different varieties of STIX, each designed to pair with the particular protein within which they are impaled.
I especially recommend the Applewood Smoked Bacon on Honey Burbon STIX in Waffle Batter and the Tuna Sashimi Style on Ginger Mango STIX that are featured in this video.

eh..I found STIX to be overrated and overpriced personally. The interior is gorgeous and the presentation is cute but the food didn’t impress me much. Our waitress was slowed down by the awkward blackberry she had to type the order in on and the process was painful. I didn’t feel that the skewer infused much flavor into the variety of STIX we tried so the hype was all for naught. The desserts were great though and served on what else but sticks! It was fun to try but I probably won’t be back.

I have to say I really enjoyed the two items mentioned. When I’ve gone I usually go to the bar, which is really the top selling point of STIX. Their molecular mixology menu is a lot of fun!
