Google Reads Your Email: Gingered Spam Salad Recipe

If you haven’t realized this yet, Google knows everything about you. If you open a message in Gmail, it scans for keywords in the text of that particular email, and uses them to generate the ads on the sides and top of your message. Now Google says you can trust them to not disclose any personal information to third parties, but that all depends on how you define the word “personal”…
Anyhow, while frightening, this email keyword scanning can also be funny when Gmail doesn’t quite understand the point of your message. The other day, someone was emailing me about what spam filter to use, and I saw on the top bar of the email message, this gem of a recipe for Gingered Spam Salad.
I now share it with you:

Ingredients
- 1 cn Spam, sliced matchstick size
- 1/4 c Finely chopped ginger root
1 ea Small red onion, finely chopped - 1/2 ts Garlic powder
- 1/4 c Freshly squeezed lime juice
- Zest of 1 lime
- 1/2 ts Oriental dried chili powder
- 1/4 c Chopped cilantro leaves
- 8 ea Cherry tomatoes, Thai bird peppers, and Cilantro sprigs to garnish
