Presenting the Cornucopia Trumpet/Shofar
For the past several years, my mother painstakingly and artistically bakes a Thanksgiving cornucopia out of bread, which serves as a charming vessel for crudités, more bread (how meta), and a variety of other delights.
By the time Thanksgiving has ended, the cornucopia has hardened, and, if coated with polyurethane, can live on in perpetuity in a parental closet with the other novelty seasonal centerpieces.
Rather than do this, however, I decided this year to carve off the end of the cornucopia and re-purpose it as a musical instrument. I am hoping to eventually release an album in collaboration with Zamfir: Master of the Pan Flute.
